Uludağ Fruit and Vegetable Products Exporters' Association (UMSMİB)
The Uludağ Fruit and Vegetable Products Exporters' Association (UMSMİB) first operated under the umbrella of the Uludağ Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association, which was founded in Bursa as part of the Uludağ Exporters' Association, but then withdrew from that organization in 1993 to form a separate association that was then named the Uludağ Fruit and Vegetable Products Exporters' Association.
At its foundation, the association's export volume totaled $92 million. This figure reached $309,3 million by the end of 2023.
The fruit and vegetable products sector forms a bridge between agriculture and industry and because most of its output is export-oriented, with no raw materials being imported, it is an important force with a net 100% foreign exchange input, high added value, creating maximum employment opportunities per unit, channeling funds into the low-income segments and boasting a high potential for development.
Thanks to its fertile and wide agricultural land that is convenient for production, and ecological differences of different regions, Turkey is one of the few countries where fruit and vegetables and of high quality can grow under good conditions. Four seasons are experienced in our country and due to this characteristic, various and high quality fruit and vegetables are produced.
Many companies operating in Fruit and Vegetable Products sector in Turkey whose products of processed foods are accepted in the international arena as well have all the quality standards such as ISO, BRC, HACCP, EFSIS etc. Our companies operating in food sector today remain among the selected countries in this sector by using modern industrial and sub-industry products, fast shipment, latest technology and high quality product potential and giving a sense of trust with customer satisfaction. There are high quality products and world class facilities that these products are processed in our country. A wide range of products are produced in Bursa, where there are the most fertile plains of Turkey due to the region's climatic characteristics, and there are world class manufacturing facilities that the products grown on these plains are processed in. In Bursa region, there are manufacturing facilities which use the latest technological advances and they contain canning, sea food processing, sauce/paste production facilities, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, juice production facilities, natural water processing facilities, jam, jelly and marmalade processing facilities, pickles, frozen food and other products of fruit and vegetables. When we look at the export markets of the sector, we can see that our country has proved itself for its quality. In order to be able to sell products to these markets and maintain its continuity, it is essential to render great services about quality, reliability and service Companies in the sector are capable to compete with the world markets with their product quality, production in accordance with the standards, in place and on time delivery to all world markets and customer satisfaction.
As UMSMİB, as of 2023, an evaluation of export data by groups of goods shows that the products that come to the forefront are Canned Frozen Potatoes, Canned Fruits and Vegetables Parts, Soda Waters-Mineral Waters-Soft Drinks, Frozen Vegetables, Beer, Canned Citrus Fruits, Tomato Paste, Frozen Fruits, Waters Ice and Snow and Canned Tomatoes. Our most important export markets are Germany, Russian Federation, Iraq, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Greece, Belgium, United States, Bulgaria and Italy. The European Union countries have the most important share in exports. The European Union countries followed by The Commonwealth of Independent States, Middle East countries, Other European Countries, North American Free Trade Zones, Far East Countries, Other Asian Countries, Oceania Countries and African countries, Free Zones and Other American Countries.
